Bug ID: 35951 Summary: Cant launch cs go while using ati card, 7xxx series (at least) Product: Wine Version: 1.7.16 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: jarkko_korpi@hotmail.com
Created attachment 48021 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=48021 error dialog
There has not been a bug report of this issue and I decided to make one.
wine version 1.7.15
For some reason I tried to run csgo directly without using steam and I got very odd response.
"SSE and SSE2 are required."
I have never seen that before.
I have phenom 2 processor http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phenom_ii
Instruction set x86, x86-64, MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4a
There is something that prevents ati users to play cs go (see pic). I don't know what cards are affected. I think I had this with 7770, now with 7870 and cs go database has 7850 entry about this issue. I have helped one guy at irc related this issue. He had ati, but don't remember model.
The trick has been to lie to game via regedit your graphic card, changing device and vendor id. After that there is no such dialog.

Stefan asked if I have Useglsl disabled, I Didn't know. It was the default. So I set the value.
That's what I get after setting it.
The error message is more clearer now.

--- Comment #10 from Patrick Rudolph patrick1804@web.de --- I tested Insurgency with wine 1.7.34 on AMD6780 and it doesn't work. However with Gallium Nine it works out of the box. I've seen lot's of unsupported DF24 messages on Wine. It's a AMD D3D9 hack that's supported on Gallium Nine, but isn't in Wine. By faking a Nvidia card using the registry setting, it will disable DF24 at all.
Component - WineD3D

--- Comment #12 from super_man@post.com --- I quess this is kinda low prio bug since there is a known workaround and also native version of the game exists, but there is something wrong how wine exposes the card to the game engine.

Does the bug still occur with wine-4.0-rc1?
Yes, still present on just released wine-4.0. When running, the error message shoes that my card is detected as AMD Radeon HD 8770 (VendorID: 0x1002 ; DeviceID: 0x665C)
When adding (or restoring) to the RegEdit an following keys: VideoPciDeviceID: 402 (Hexadecimal) ; VideoPciVendorID: 10de (Hexadecimal) , game starts just fine. NOTE, that it is data for nVidia GeForce 8600GT.

I will reboot and re-test with admgpu driver.
Also updating the title to include 8xxx series untill owner of actual AMD Radeon HD 8xxx reports differently. I believe that there are some weird issue where the DirectX assets are not properly negotating the supported DirectX version. sUPPRTED api COMPARSION: https://www.game-debate.com/gpu/index.php?gid=1864&gid2=1171&compare...
