As of yesterday, Sept. 28 2006, I receive the following error when trying to
compile the Git tree on my system (Kubuntu Linux Kernel 2.6.15-27-amd64-k8 #1
SMP PREEMPT).  Previously, it was compiling successfully (other than a spurious
FontForge/Freetype message, for which I have another bug open).
