Bug #: 31840 Summary: LTSpice built-in help viewer displays certain letters in bold Product: Wine Version: 1.5.13 Platform: x86 URL: http://ltspice.linear.com/software/LTspiceIV.exe OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Keywords: download, regression Severity: trivial Priority: P2 Component: gdi32 AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: gyebro69@gmail.com CC: fracting@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified Regression SHA1: abc8f2c6c270a8f6bce8c5c1f0fc5b5773dad4a9
Created attachment 41897 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=41897 screenshot (comparison)
Certain combination of letters in the built-in help viewer of LTSpice v4.x appears as if they were bold. They are always the letters 'fi' which appear incorrectly. Currently the application has bug #31823 so the help viewer isn't displayed correctly (there is a patch in #31823, though). 'winetricks corefonts' doesn't help. Plain terminal output doesn't show anything interesting.
To reproduce the problem: 1. install the application and start it with scad3.exe 2. press <F1> to open the help viewer and browse the contents...the occurrence of the characters 'fi' is quite common.
It seems to be a regression from Wine 1.5.13:

--- Comment #1 from Qian Hong fracting@gmail.com 2012-10-01 05:15:40 CDT --- Hi, GyB
Thanks for testing, I try to reproduce but failed, I tested on Ubuntu 11.10, what environment are you testing on? I guess I need to reproduce the bug before I can debug on it.
Thanks!

Hi, Qian
I'm on Fedora 17 (x86) + Gnome 3 + X.Org X Server 1.12.3, Wine was compiled from source. freetype-2.4.8-3.fc17.i686 and freetype-freeworld-2.4.8-3.fc17.i686 are installed.
There's something strange about this bug. Actually, 'winetricks corefonts' helps (but not always?). There were at least 2 runs with corefonts installed when the help viewer displayed the wrong fonts. I installed the application in another clean prefix, then I installed ie6 via winetricks: ie6 also worked around the problem. I guess this doesn't make much sense.

--- Comment #3 from Qian Hong fracting@gmail.com 2012-10-04 08:11:18 CDT --- Hi GyB, thanks for the information!
Now I can reproduced (on fedora), and I can simply reproduce by open the below file with wine iexplore on fedora:
<div>find</div>
I'll take a look.

--- Comment #4 from Qian Hong fracting@gmail.com 2012-10-04 08:28:45 CDT --- Hi GyB, this bug is not a real regression of my patch, it is a uncovered bug discovered by my patch.
Actually the "bold" font you see is a result of broken anti-aliasing, you could revert 4ce3af3fad1dfacfe39a441054586707f848038f to resolv it.
I believe it is another dup of Bug 29240.
Thanks for testing!
