Summary: Mod4win crashes when trying to start the mixer Product: Wine Version: 1.0-rc4 Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P3 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: tjlyon@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=14042) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=14042) Stderr
In the final version of the program Mod4win, 2.40, the program crashes when trying to start the mixer by pressing the button that says "Mixer".
The program was written for Windows 3.1 and the final version was released for free by the author and is available here: http://pjeantaud.free.fr/mod4win/english.html
In this program you can set up an external mixer program to run when pressing the Mixer button. However, if you don't have a mixer configured, what is supposed to happen is that a window with an error message comes up. Instead, the program crashes.
It works when you have a mixer program selected in Setup. The program only crashes when you press the button without a program selected. You can show this by selecting, for example, Notepad.exe as your mixer program and pressing the Mixer button.
I ran this with the win31 version setting and with other version settings as well and it crashes with all of them.
I am attaching my stderr output.
This was actually tested with 1.0-rc5 but I don't see that as an option in Bugzilla so I chose 1.0-rc4 since it is the closest one.

--- Comment #5 from MatDivaret pianoedjoe@free.fr 2009-09-21 05:15:00 --- Curious bug. In fact, there is no bug if you launch the app directly with the icon in the repertory of the app.
But if i launch it from a terminal, it crashes with the same backtraces too.

Just click on the .exe file in the app repertory and it works fine.

I'm not sure to understand the question. For me, the exe file is in: /home/mathieu/.wine/drive_c/MOD4WIN/mod4win.exe
The bug comes with: wine mod4win.exe in a terminal but no problem with just a double click.
If it is for the dowload link, it's: http://meuble.radio.free.fr/mod4win/m4w-2_40.exe

You said:

What icon?
The bug comes with: wine mod4win.exe in a terminal but no problem with just a double click.
You double-clicking on what exactly? Double-clicking in what? Gnome? KDE? Winefile? Where is _that_ what you are double-clicking on?

--- Comment #10 from MatDivaret pianoedjoe@free.fr 2009-09-22 07:31:55 --- Icon was not the good word, i meant file. Double-click on mod4win.exe, always the same file. I just double clicked on it (mod4win.exe) in nautilus with gnome, and then there was no bug (like in the screenshot, you can see nautilus)

--- Comment #11 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy@kievinfo.com 2009-09-22 08:35:02 --- And what exact command have you used to "launch it directly"? And in what directory where you?

--- Comment #12 from MatDivaret pianoedjoe@free.fr 2009-09-22 10:00:02 --- Just a doucle clic on the file mod4win.exe in nautilus or right-clic, open with wine.
The file is in: /home/mathieu/.wine/drive_c/MOD4WIN/mod4win.exe
