Dead Space 2 from Steam starts fine in 1.7.33 but crashes on start in 1.7.34 The result of the regression test:

Reverting the patch on wine-1.7.34-74-gcf92569 fixes the issue.

The patch works, thanks. Now the game requires a new product activation (I wonder how many left?) Does your patch act as if I installed the game on a different computer?

No, it always returns "0" for Win32_ComputerSystemPoduct.IdentifyingNumber, just like Windows on a VirtualBox VM.
It may look at other properties too of course, which may change if you reinstall.
