I guess it clobbers things bad enough the traceback fails, or the process is gone, or something.

Testing with Wine from current Git (wine-1.1.4-334-g54d920a) shows the crash to currently be in msi:
trace:msi:msiobj_release object 0x208338 destroyed trace:msi:load_classes_and_such Loading all the class info and related tables trace:seh:raise_exception code=c0000005 flags=0 addr=0x7ede7760
A backtrace was obtained using winedbg; output is attached.
