Summary: Guildwars fails to Install / Download content since 1.1.20 (which was perfect) Product: Wine Version: 1.1.21 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: licentions@hotdak.net
Since wine 1.1.21 Guildwars fails to install, or if you copy an installed image it off another machine, when it try to download content it exits (sometimes with a segfault), but mostly saying stack corruption.
Wine 1.1.23 is somewhat better, it will install ok, but then fails the same way downloading content. It seems to be able to download tiny files, but anything of size crashes.
As I said, 1.1.20 was *perfect*. Backing-out to 1.1.20 fixes all issues.

--- Comment #4 from Jamin Collins jcollins@asgardsrealm.net 2009-07-15 09:59:40 --- This appears to be a duplicate of bug 18675. Reverting the change isolated by that bug's regression testing results in being able to fully download and install Guild Wars.
Using the reverted package referenced here: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18675#c13

Since wine 1.1.21 Guildwars fails to install
That's one bug.
or if you copy an installed image it off another machine, when it try to download content it exits (sometimes with a segfault), but mostly saying stack corruption.
That's completely invalid.
Wine 1.1.23 is somewhat better, it will install ok, but then fails the same way downloading content. It seems to be able to download tiny files, but anything of size crashes.
That's another bug.
This certainly can't be a duplicate of one bug or another because there are two bugs reported here, which is invalid.

--- Comment #7 from Jamin Collins jcollins@asgardsrealm.net 2009-07-15 10:59:42 --- Depends on what the original reporter means by installation failing. IMO, failing to download all the requisite files and the installation application abruptly exiting counts. This would cover both the problems described for Wine version 1.1.21 and 1.1.23. If however it was some other more severe failure, like not even getting to the point where it begins to download files that's a different story and one that appears to already be corrected.
Either way, reverting that one commit referenced in the other bug report and using the pre-built referenced packages results in a fully functioning installation and download of all files.
