I have a DVD with Empire Earth 3. I mount it and then run
$ wine /mnt/dvd/setup.exe
then I have 2 error lines, and get back command prompt 2-3 seconds after

I don't think this is possible, but I found an ISO at mininova:

It's not a free version but that is a way to aquire the game.

Don't do this. cd to the directory first.

fixme:actctx:parse_depend_manifests Could not find dependent assembly
L"Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls"
That error should've been fixed a *long* time ago...Try:
$ wineprefixcreate

To update your ~/.wine directory and try again. If that doesn't work, try a new
~/.wine directory (delete your old one).

I didn't see any new entries in the output.txt 5 minutes later and I killed
wine.

With wine-1.1.0: I installed directx 9.0c and now game installs, but:

Removing deprecated CVS/GIT version tag. Please retest in current git. If the
bug is still present in today's wine, but was not present in some earlier
version of wine, please update version field to earliest known version of wine
that had the bug. Thanks!
