Summary: Sims 3 flickering white textures Product: Wine Version: 1.3.9 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: eg.galano@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=32488) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=32488) Terminal output
This problem happens for me on GeForce 400 series graphics cards using driver 260.19.21 and 195.36.31, but not on a GeForce 295 with driver 195.36.15
I attached the terminal output but there wasn't anything revealing in there.
The bug goes away when trying a WINEDEBUG=+d3d log.
The issue also goes away when you disable the 'advancedrendering' option in the game's Options.ini file (My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/).

--- Comment #2 from EG Galano eg.galano@gmail.com 2010-12-13 19:49:06 CST --- To reproduce this, you need to load into the game past the main menu and character creation screens.
Pick a family and move into a residence. Once you are within the game's 'living' play-mode, the rendering issues occur as you pan around any scene such as the outdoor scenery near your house.
To install the game properly, use wisotool available at http://code.google.com/p/winezeug/source/checkout

--- Comment #3 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2010-12-15 14:04:10 CST --- Confirming. Seems to be graphics card dependent. On a machine with an nvidia 295, I have no problem, but I do with a 480.
Both have 260.19.21 drivers.

Hi, The problem seems to be related to the depth bias(as many similar problems with decals or shadows). The attached hack fixes the issue for me. You may need a different factor depending on the game settings(or rather the depth buffer format the game chooses) and your GPU's behavior.

--- Comment #6 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2013-11-13 16:49:02 CST --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 2 years. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.6 or newer) wine? If so, please attach the terminal output in 1.7.6 (see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log).

I think it went. But I don't have this game.
Basically 7 years no response. We need to close this bug.

I don't have this game too. But last 3 AppDB (last v2.0-rc2) entries are Gold and no one complains. It was probably fixed by Stefan as mentioned above.
If the problem persist for you, feel free to re-open.
