--- Comment #1 from TheGeneral torgeriedel@gmx.de 2011-02-27 07:34:31 CST --- To clarify: "No video output" means "no display of graphics". It's not only limited to videos. There is only a black square on the screen.

Could the game videos depend on an optional dependency of wine? GyB, did you use any overrides?

I receive the exact same terminal output. Intro videos are not playing, but the menu appears correctly. This was tested in a clean wineprefix, Nvidia gfx card + binary drivers, Gnome 3 as well as XFCE 4.10. In-game videos use Cinepack codec (it is not installed here).

--- Comment #15 from DEVastat0r@yahoo.com 2013-05-28 03:25:18 CDT --- I have the same or a similar bug:
Game appears to run, menu sound functions, I get a resolution switch to 640x480, but no graphics appear. Instead, I see my desktop underneath, magnified to 640x480. This is different from the OP who sees a blank screen ... but it seems similar enough that I want to add my data here than file a possible duplicate. I believe that using primus is the cause of the difference.
I'm using Wine wine1.4 1.4.1-0ubuntu5 I'm also using Primus / Bumblebee (game crashes with Optirun)

In wine 1.7.5 for me, the game works completely except the videos. As explained by somebody else earlier, they depend on a codec which is not implemented.

--- Comment #18 from Goblinstomper@gmail.com 2013-10-29 17:59:48 CDT --- well yes, but that would be due to either bug 8712 or bug 9127 to my understanding (or both, I mostly try to test stuff to the best of my ability)

--- Comment #20 from Thomas tuxor1337@web.de --- Hi, I just wanted to report that Commandos: Beyond the Call of Duty (German version from http://www.amazon.de/Commandos-Auftrag-Ehre-Sat-1-Games/dp/B000079DLM) is working almost perfectly on my x86_64 machine running Fedora 22 and wine.i686 (version 1.7.45). In "winecfg" I set the windows version to "Windows 98".
I had a sudden freeze during gameplay once. But that doesn't seem to be easily reproducible.
