Summary: Final Fantasy XI Official Benchmark v. 3 doesn't display properly Product: Wine Version: 1.0-rc1 Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: ned_fed@tiscali.it CC: thunderbird2k@gmx.net
After starting the benchmark using the app http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=4879 the screen turns to black because of a directx error. Furthermore the demo (included in this app) shows black squares where they shouldn't be and various graphic errors. The result of the regression test is the following:
ba90a740beb9ce9a839cc843db8d87f5a37becdd is first bad commit commit ba90a740beb9ce9a839cc843db8d87f5a37becdd Author: Roderick Colenbrander thunderbird2k@gmx.net Date: Sun Feb 10 22:20:15 2008 +0100
wined3d: Add read_from_framebuffer_texture which combines code from read_from_framebuffer (drawpixels) and LoadLocation.
This makes the code easier to read and the pieces borrowed from read_from_framebuffer are more correct than the code in LoadLocation.

The regression wasn't present in wine-0.9.54 and as far as i know was added between that version and the 0.9.59. Logs i got don't seem to tell anything interesting. Let me know if you need logs (with the options i have to use) or screenshots.

--- Comment #1 from Rico kgbricola@web.de 2008-05-13 11:53:21 --- Could you have a look here http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11584 and try the workarounds and patches?

--- Comment #2 from Jumper ned_fed@tiscali.it 2008-05-13 12:50:51 --- I applied http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=10811 and http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=11503, but they didn't solve the problem. I couldn't apply http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=12057 (the one supplied by Tiemen Schreuder) because the command returned an error.

--- Comment #3 from Rico kgbricola@web.de 2008-05-13 13:01:03 --- Does it work with OffscreenRenderingMode = fbo ( http://wiki.winehq.org/UsefulRegistryKeys )?
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13160
--- Comment #4 from Jumper ned_fed@tiscali.it 2008-05-13 13:13:15 --- I tried both fbo and pbuffer on a patched 0.9.56 build: fbo seemed to have resolved the glitch, but the benchmark slowed down a lot; pbuffer caused a slight different glitch. I didn't see all the benchmark, but i will rebuild that version without patches and see if the registry string fbo still solves the problem. Then i will take a look at the whole benchmark and see if there are still glitches.

--- Comment #5 from Jumper ned_fed@tiscali.it 2008-05-13 13:37:35 --- I can confirm that the setting that you suggested fixes all the glitches. Still now the benchmark slowed down (not the demo though), while in the previous versions the benchmark was running normally and without glitches. The version i used to test the registry setting was a 0.9.56 not patched.

--- Comment #6 from Andrew Thoreson febaen@gmail.com 2008-05-15 21:01:45 --- Using version 1.0rc1, setting fbo does not seem to help very much. I tested the Ubuntu .debs (my computer compiles slow, and I kept getting an annoying compiling error) : 0.9.55 definitely works (at least, as well as it ever has), and 0.9.56 definitely does not. Regression testing with git (between 0.9.55 and *.56) gives the same result as the above.
I would like to point out (and provide a quick link to) the benchmark can be freely downloaded from http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/download/media/benchmark01.html?pageID=medi... ; if you want to help, you can try it on your own machine as well.
