Summary: Wine lacks an XAudio 2 implementation Product: Wine Version: 1.1.5 Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: P2 Component: directx-dsound AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: cbergemann@gmxpro.de
Wine needs support for the new XAudio 2 api in DirectX. Many games seem to depend on it.
For example: Drakensang (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=7950)

Question to clarify: Does this bug still persist if you simply turn off hardware acceleration of sound and set mode to "Windows XP" or lower?
That wouldn't help, because there are actually DLLs missing. They're called "x3daudio1_*.dll", "xactengine2_*.dll", "xapofx1_*.dll" and "xaudio2_*.dll". Drakensang for example refuses to start due to the missing DLLs unless you suply the native versions.
My understanding is that these DLLs are part of the newer DirectX packages (somewhere from June 2008 onward).

--- Comment #8 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello folks,
bug 12182 has been split up into multiple bugs targeting XAudio2 components/APIs.
Please avoid creating feature "meta" bugs in future, instead target the specific XAudio2 component needed ("missing dll"), also mentioned the actual game.
Since OP didn't provide further information which XAudio2 API is specifically needed, leaving this as dupe (which might be potentially incorrect due to split-up).
