--- Comment #4 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2011-05-10 05:48:20 CDT --- Oddly, WINEDEBUG=warn+heap works around the problem here, but doesn't show any warnings.

--- Comment #5 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2011-05-10 06:07:20 CDT --- I take that back - for me, adding WINEDEBUG=warn+heap only got it to the login screen (it crashed sooner for me without it the first try).
You don't even need a skype account to reproduce the problem, just put in a bogus username and password.
This looks kind of nasty. (I wonder if it's a problem in wine's bitblt exception handling; there's lots of blitting going on. Or maybe it's some DRM-like layer.)

Mike, Dan, does it still segfault with Wine 1.3.28?
Using http://www.filehorse.com/download-skype/7756/
It's still in wine-1.7.11-114-g6f498c4.
If I set the windows version to win2k instead of xp, you get a not too helpful backtrace. In XP, it segfaults.
I'll attach a relay,seh,tid with 2k mode.

Skype 5.2.60.113 is deprecated and it cannot connect to the Skype network. The minimum required version is Skype 6.14.

Does the server reject the client before this bug appears?
According to comment #0, looks like it's after login:
