Bug ID: 38854 Summary: Powerpoint 2007 crashes on save Product: Wine Version: 1.7.45 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: axfelix@gmail.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 51780 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=51780 stdout+stderr
Hi folks,
Possible regression here -- I notice this has only been reported as an issue when setting Wine to Windows Vista or Windows 7 compatibility mode, and I have it set to XP. Everything works OK otherwise but I get a crash on save and I notice that wasn't happening a few Wine versions ago. Tested that I can still use a File->Save dialog in other applications without trouble so I'm assuming this is specific to Office 2007, if not to Powerpoint. stdout and stderr attached.

--- Comment #1 from Nikolay Sivov bunglehead@gmail.com --- Is it possible you got something else beside Office installed in this prefix:
--- wine: Call from 0x7b83bbbe to unimplemented function ntoskrnl.exe.ExAcquireResourceExclusiveLite, aborting ---

--- Comment #2 from Alex axfelix@gmail.com --- Yeah, it's not a clean prefix by any stretch of the imagination.

--- Comment #3 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net --- I can't reproduce this. Tested in 1.7.46.

--- Comment #4 from Alex axfelix@gmail.com --- What are the odds that it's the fault of using CSMT? I thought that mostly only affected 3d applications...

--- Comment #5 from Alex axfelix@gmail.com --- Just confirmed the issue is with actually showing the file save dialog -- I can do a Ctrl+S on an existing file (that doesn't give me the Save As prompt) without issue.

--- Comment #6 from Alex axfelix@gmail.com --- And just verified that there are no broken or missing drives mounted in Wine, even though I think this is normally handled pretty gracefully.

--- Comment #7 from Alex axfelix@gmail.com --- Also -- this is really weird, never seen it before -- Powerpoint appears to be generating filename.pptx.lnk files made up of unintelligible hex characters in the same directory as any existing presentations I open.

--- Comment #8 from Alex axfelix@gmail.com --- Nevermind, guess that's unrelated, and there's a workaround: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15480

--- Comment #9 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- Not clean prefix, non default windows version, and using out of tree patches > INVALID.

--- Comment #10 from Alex axfelix@gmail.com --- Sorry if I wasn't clear, I mentioned I was using XP, which I believe is default. Where can I report CSMT bugs? I was under the impression that CSMT is supported by Wine devs despite being out of tree...

--- Comment #11 from Ken Thomases ken@codeweavers.com --- Try reproducing it in a clean prefix using plain Wine.

--- Comment #12 from Alex axfelix@gmail.com --- FWIW, I confirmed the issue isn't with the prefix -- ran it with a different wine-staging binary and didn't hit the issue. Tracked here, as it should've been in the first place: https://bugs.wine-staging.com/show_bug.cgi?id=432
Thanks & Sorry.
