native dxdiag.exe and dxdiagn.dll from 'winetricks directx9',
with no other native components, puts up an interface, then crashes with

err:ole:CoGetClassObject no class object {b9f3eb85-b781-4ac1-8d90-93a05ee37d7d}
could be created for context 0x1
wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000002 at address 0x51825e
(thread 0009), starting debugger...

On the next run, it nicely says "there was a crash accessing directshow,
do you want to bypass?"  and if you say yes, it goes on to work well.

winetricks quartz works around the initial crash and gets you to
the next problem.

Quartz is replaced with mac driver.

This ticket has not been updated for over 900 days.

Is this still an issue in wine version 1.6-rc4 or higher or is this to be
closed as abandoned ?

Quartz here is the main DirectShow dll. Nothing to do with Mac.

Class id b9f3eb85-b781-4ac1-8d90-93a05ee37d7d is CLSID_DirectPlayVoiceClient.
It's from DirectPlay not quartz.
That said the crash is not necessarily related to the failure of
CoGetClassObject.
