It's broken on XFCE for some reason, the icon simply doesn't show up.
(reported by Alistair on wine-staging with Steam and I tested it)

It's not Steam specific, I could repro it with Winamp (shift + click
minimize moves it to systray) and AutoHotkey on XFCE.

Of course, this is *without* virtual desktop.
