I have yet to look thorougly through the patchset, so ignore me if I'm suggesting something that does not apply.

Suppose there is a file that 1) has no DOSATTRIB xattr and 2) the name of which does not start with a dot. If the Win32 app prepends a dot to its name, the file shall not still be hidden. Same goes for the opposite. Is this correct?
