Not unless applications are actually interested in the compressed format, which I haven't seen any instance of on the MF side yet.

Then ultimately probably. And these unknown formats are still considered a temporary fallback, and reported with a GST_FIXME message. However, it doesn't look tractable to me to do the kind of conversion we do, if we need to support *every* compressed caps (ie: going through an intermediate static representation).
