Hmm, I'm not sure to understand what you mean. The group ownership here is only in the sense "How's responsible for putting it back into the group list".
If we've set GROUP_FLAG_FREE, we delegated that to the future last block free-er. If not, then we still own the group and need to put back into the list ourselves.
Anyway I reworded the comment a bit.
