Comment to myself: slightly surprising that the test below matches with `_linear_`, but it turns out that box and linear filters have identical results for this kind of "exact" scaling, as shown elsewhere (the variable with the expected data obviously isn't duplicated for the two cases and it happened to have the `_linear_` prefix).
