When attempting to use winecfg to view these overrides it instantly crashes into a winedbg session reporting 'buffer overflows' or some such. After about 1' the screen goes blank (well, in fact black). A Ctrl-Alt-F6 followed immediatly by a Ctrl-Alt-F7 restores it. After restoration the uper part of the screen keeps fuzzy for a couple of seconds. This does not happen again until the next start of wine. I do not know if this is related or not to the crash, but will not harm mentioning it. From this point on Notes operates normally: I can receive, read, write and send mail. But in some instances the program crashes, meaning that the wine window disappears, and I get a lot of lines from WineDbg in my console. The instances are: - When I try to open certain emails with an attachment. Not all emails with files attached, mind, only some. I keep one of such mails if you are interested in it. The crash happens ALWAYS I try to open that mail, so I guess the problem has something to do with it. The size of the attachment may vary. I encounter choppy sound with Wine whenever the CPU load is higher than 10-15%, and when it's 20% the sound stops playing at all. I've had memory problems before, and this is not characteristic of what happens - bad memory does not cause random crashes in wine - it causes random crashes _everywhere_, and makes your system unusable. =============== I've uninstalled wolfenstein, and I've erased the large logs since they took way too much space, but I've kept the small ones on http://ivan.ivg2.net/wolf/ if there's still interest in fixing this. I'm not having any luck with HL2, as the installer still doesn't work, and now steam is also broken (freezes at 27% update).
