This problem is crucial because it is impossible to do the design or test and calibrate printer without a template. When the application is run from the command prompt it prints a lot of error messages in the terminal window. I was able to get this error to go away by removing xserver-xgl. Also verify that your video card meets the minimum requirements, and that you do not have hardware acceleration disabled in the Display control panel. Graphics card is Quadro NVS 130 (Toshiba Tecra S5 laptop). I copied the wine folder to my PC with GeForce 8800 GTX and it worked properly there.
