It's not created by the runtime itself but somehow during .NET install process. An exception is thrown and the application basically locks up after canceling a print command from the application's help viewer. In bug #25873, Erich Hoover asked to be CCed on this new report. Steps to reproduce: 1. Start PAF5. 2. Select 'New' from the dialog (or the menu bar if you don't see a dialog). 3. Click on the yellow question mark on the right-hand end of the menu bar. This brings up the help viewer. 4. Click on 'Print'. 5. In the print dialog, click on 'Cancel'. 6. Back in the help viewer, click on a couple of chapter titles in the left-hand pane. 7. Observe that the help viewer and application have become unresponsive and that an exception has been printed to stdout/stderr. See screenshot. In the log the is a reason ~~~ 0030:fixme:d3d:wined3d_query_create Unhandled query type 0x16. ~~~ 0x16 == 22 = WINED3D_QUERY_TYPE_SO_OVERFLOW To concept proof I created a small hack with implementation for this type of query. And the application allows me to start benchmark. All other tests are running fine. Interestingly the very similar 3DMark05 benchmark is running completely error free. (This may be because the older version doesn't contain the same complex HDR PS 3.0 Shader programs.) Note, I have tested this at an 32bit and 64bit Wine prefix. The error output is: D3DXGetImageInfoFromFileInMemory failed: Invalid data (D3DXERR_INVALIDDATA) D3DXDisassembleShader failed: Ran out of memory (E_OUTOFMEMORY) The solution is to install the original 'd3dx9_28.dll' file (winetricks -q d3dx9_28). After that, everything is working as it should. This bug report was originally posted at the Gallium Nine bug tracker: https://github.com/iXit/wine-nine-standalone/issues/95 Because this is a WINE bug, I closed it there and reopened it here. Far Cry 4 (which requires at least a 64-bit Windows 7 prefix) fails to call a bash script on launch: Can't recognise 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\games\Far Cry 4\Support\Software\GEFirewall.bat /silent' as an internal or external command, or batch script. Sure enough, calling it manually (even without the /silent argument) results in the same error: $ wine cmd.exe /c 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\games\Far Cry 4\Support\Software\GEFirewall.bat' Can't recognise 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\games\Far Cry 4\Support\Software\GEFirewall.bat' as an internal or external command, or batch script. Suspicious of the ( and ) characters in the URL, I tried copying the GEFirewall.bat to the path 'C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\games\Far Cry 4\Support\Software\' (which doesn't normally exist but I manually created it). $ wine cmd.exe /c 'C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\games\Far Cry 4\Support\Software\GEFirewall.bat' fixme:netsh:wmain stub: L"netsh" L"firewall" L"add" L"allowedprogram" L"C:\\Program Files\\Ubisoft\\Ubisoft Game Launcher\\games\\Far Cry 4\\Support\\Software\\..\\..\\bin\\FarCry4.exe" L"FarCry4" L"ENABLE" fixme:netsh:wmain stub: L"netsh" L"firewall" L"add" L"allowedprogram" L"C:\\Program Files\\Ubisoft\\Ubisoft Game Launcher\\games\\Far Cry 4\\Support\\Software\\..\\..\\bin\\IGE_WPF64.exe" L"FarCry4-IGE" L"ENABLE" The script ran perfectly.
