[Bug 34774] New: Crimson Skies crashes when a mission ends
by wine-bugs＠winehq.org Sept. 21, 2026

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34774 Bug #: 34774 Summary: Crimson Skies crashes when a mission ends Product: Wine Version: 1.7.4 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: benpicco-wine(a)flauschlabor.de Classification: Unclassified Created attachment 46368 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=46368 Unhandled page fault on read access I've installed the game to a 32bit Windeprefix, installed quartz, Active Video and native amstream.dll and disabled winegstreamer so the game would launch. Everything works well, I can launch missions/instant action battles, but when they end and the game normally would go to a debriefing screen, it crashes instead. [Bug 41161] New: Embedding child process' window in own window does not draw the child window properly
by wine-bugs＠winehq.org Sept. 20, 2026

Sept. 20, 2026

https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41161 Bug ID: 41161 Summary: Embedding child process' window in own window does not draw the child window properly Product: Wine Version: 1.9.16 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: wine(a)sagagames.de Distribution: --- OpenMPT (https://openmpt.org/) has a plugin bridge, which can be used to run VST plugins in a separate process. However, compared to a native Windows environment (or not bridging the plugins), there is a problem when drawing the plugin UI. The plugin UI window itself is a borderless window that belongs to the bridge process, and is then set as a child of the actual plugin window that belongs to the OpenMPT process using SetParent(...). This works just fine on Windows, but in Wine, the child window remains completely black. If parts of the child window are redrawn by the bridged process, they become visible, but as soon as a redraw for the parent window is issued (e.g. by setting the focus to it), these areas become black again. Steps to reproduce: 1) Install OpenMPT. 2) Create a new module. 3) Open the plugin manager ("Select" button at the bottom of the created module's window) and add any VST plugin that provides its own UI (e.g. http://www.geocities.jp/daichi1969/softsynth/index.html#down) 4) Be sure the "Use Plugin Bridge" checkbox is checked (it is also fine if it is checked but greyed out) 5) Click "Put in FX01" to load the plugin. 6) Click the "Edit" button next to the "Select" button to open the plugin's UI. 7) The UI will be completely black, with child controls becoming occasionally visible if you click them. Note that I am an OpenMPT developer, so I would be both happy with incorporating a Wine-specific fix in our codebase if there is a way to make this scenario work with Wine, or with a fix in Wine itself to make child windows from other processes work correctly. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. [Bug 26758] New: Makefile system does not respect AS variable
by wine-bugs＠winehq.org Sept. 18, 2026

Sept. 18, 2026

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26758 Summary: Makefile system does not respect AS variable Product: Wine Version: 1.3.17 Platform: x86 OS/Version: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: cdavis(a)mines.edu As part of building Wine DLLs an executables, Winebuild generates assembly files that are then assembled. If an assembler is specified using --as-cmd, that program is used; otherwise the system assembler is used. Wine's build system, unfortunately, does not allow the user to set the assembler to pass to winebuild. The usual way to set the assembler to use is to set the AS variable, but the build system does not respect it. This is a problem, for example, on Mac OS X when building with Clang with its integrated assembler turned on. Clang's integrated assembler supports .cfi directives, but the system assembler doesn't. During configure, a test file containing .cfi directives is passed to the compiler, on the assumption that it would be then passed to the system assembler. With Clang's integrated assembler, this assumption is broken. Thus, when winebuild tries to assemble files containing .cfi directives (because it believes that the system assembler supported them), it fails as a result. A workaround is to tell winebuild to use Clang to assemble, but the Makefile system doesn't support that. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
