A prior bug 46160 was filed about NatSpeak 13 hanging up at the end of installation, and I think that bug might have been fixed in the most recent wine version, and this other bug uncovered. bug 46160 Anyway, the installation stops as of this: err:rpc:rpcrt4_protseq_np_wait_for_new_connection wait failed with error 87 I have posted the installation log. If I kill the installation and then try to start the program, the program works up to a point. It waves hello, and then asks if I want to register the program immediately or run it up to 5 times without registering. When I hit either of these options, the program crashes. Linux native apps tend to do just fine , but there's no way for VR capable windows apps running trough Wine to detect/use VR devices. VR is supposed to be supported on Proton and hacky Wine-Proton hybrids, where first option limits support to apps from Steam and second one is a bit cumbersome to get it working. To solve this issue wine environment could provide thin VR runtime environment that catches calls from apps and direct those to linux native VR runtime that is installed on user system. Wine OpenXR library shouldn't be that complex as it'd be simple 1:1 mapping of OpenXR API. For Valve OpenVR API there are two possible approaches, one similar to OpenXR where wine just forward calls to SteamVR or it could translate calls to OpenXR, like OpenComposite does, then call OpenXR runtime on Linux side. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. On the demo version it seems the user only loose the control. Interestingly on Windows, since Windows 10, the game has an exaggerated speed/framerate in full-screen. Which was fixed using this dx8 to dx9 converter : http://enbdev.com/convertor_dx8_dx9_v0036.htm However this doesn't change anything with wine. During the process, the installer shows slides with cars and I noticed that on Wine these slides have "stitches". I tried to install the game in a virtual machine with WindowsXP and it didn't have such artifacts. I attached my console output. You can reproduce the bug just by downloading the file and trying to install. I kept my terminal open for more than 3 hours beacuse the process is "running" and if I close the terminal it says that a process is still running and closing the terminal will kill it. In "Arma 3" and in "Arma: Reforger" CapsLock is used as push to talk button for radio and you are often holding it alongside other buttons. How to reproduce: 1. Caps lock state need to be on. 2. Hold other key, for example W for walking forward 3. Hold CAPS LOCK 4. In Arma 3 it will start broadcasting for ms and stop and after 1s it will start broadcasting again. In Arma: Reforger this will toggle between Squad <-> Platoon radio instead because it detected double click on Caps Lock. Game will ignore you are still holding caps lock. There is small chance that bug will not trigger. There is also possibility that game may mistakenly detect that you are still holding the Caps Lock key after releasing it, causing it to continue broadcasting until you press it again. I don't know how to reproduce this one. This is very common issue for Arma players on Linux. Better integration, since the application run under Wine would use the native desktop file pickers, complete with the user's Places sidebar bookmarks and any other customizations they've enacted. 2. More practical security, since Wine could then be run in a filesystem sandbox, with the portal host mounting files/directories into the sandboxed environment on demand. I'd suggest a three-state option exposed through winecfg's Desktop Integration: 1. Opportunistically (Qt's approach to integrating support for XDG portals into QFileDialog provides precedent for making this the default. Uses the portal-based file chooser unless an application requests a combination of OPENFILENAME settings that cannot be represented by the portal API.) 2. Forced (An option for power users to set on a per-application basis to intentionally sacrifice the application's customizations in favour of better integration with the understanding that things may break.) 3. Never (An option for users who prefer consistency between their Windows applications over consistency with the rest of their desktop or have deleted the Z: mapping and configured their Wine prefix around the idea of only working with drive letters.) These high-level preferences could also apply equally well to any other platform's native file chooser, should integration with it be implemented.
