Steps to reproduce: 1. Download and install WebView2 (which includes Edge) from https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2/ 2. Run: wine "/PATH/TO/PREFIX/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Microsoft/EdgeCore/VERSIONNUMBER/msedge.exe" --disable-gpu --no-first-run Edge will not launch. If you add --no-sandbox to the launch options, it will launch, but freeze after a second or so (https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56377) --disable-gpu is required wine wined3d, it can be dropped if using DXVK. --no-first-run disables the first run prompting you to sign in and such, it has no bearing on this bug itself. It's not created by the runtime itself but somehow during .NET install process. This is not handled in wine, which calls wcslen on it: https://github.com/wine-mirror/wine/blob/a8c1d5c108fc57e4d78e9db126f395c890… The path resolution is correctly implemented in LdrGetDllPath, but that function is not used (besides being an export). An exception is thrown and the application basically locks up after canceling a print command from the application's help viewer. In bug #25873, Erich Hoover asked to be CCed on this new report. Steps to reproduce: 1. Start PAF5. 2. Select 'New' from the dialog (or the menu bar if you don't see a dialog). 3. Click on the yellow question mark on the right-hand end of the menu bar. This brings up the help viewer. 4. Click on 'Print'. 5. In the print dialog, click on 'Cancel'. 6. Back in the help viewer, click on a couple of chapter titles in the left-hand pane. 7. Observe that the help viewer and application have become unresponsive and that an exception has been printed to stdout/stderr. In the log the is a reason ~~~ 0030:fixme:d3d:wined3d_query_create Unhandled query type 0x16. ~~~ 0x16 == 22 = WINED3D_QUERY_TYPE_SO_OVERFLOW To concept proof I created a small hack with implementation for this type of query. And the application allows me to start benchmark.
