It is better than empty boxes. :) likewise, some indic language fonts only have part of latin characters like numbers and symbols but not ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ characters, wine should try to use default font for latin if there are not glyphs avaialble for a language. In my case, I have Wine with Firefox 31.7.0esr (https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/31.7.0esr/win32/en-US/Firefox%…) and Hikvision WebComponents installed for my old NVR. Unfortunately this is hard to reproduce by other people, since you need access to some Hikvision NVR that uses such WebComponents. I'm using Debian 13 Trixie, and when using regular winehq-staging, everything works smooth. However, when using any Wine version with WoW64, this issue happens. I have been trying ever since Wine 10.18, but decided to report it now that WoW64 is considered stable. I already tried a clean prefix, but the issue can be reproduced just fine. To install Wine WoW64 in Debian Trixie, I used Ubuntu 25.10 APT sources. Was working flawlessly on Wine 2.22. Immediately on update to 3.0 rc1 it reliable crashes on startup. System is standard Wine with extra dlls via Winetricks (cmd.exe, ffdshow, mfc42, vb6run, vc6run, vc6runsp6, wsh57). All needed to get various programs running. Program is portable version of UK's Kalender.exe from http://www.ukrebs-software.de/download/kalender/Kalender_Portable.zip Present on this machine is one of the 2.5.x series (not sure which and cannot start the program to check) Steps to reproduce: Start running the program either 1. from PSMenu portable program launcher (itself install on Wine), OR 2. right click the Kalender.exe file in Thunar and select "Open wwith Wine Windows Program Loader" Actual Result: Program fails to start, crash report displayed. On my Linux system (Linuxmint 20.3, Mate), the installation process under Wine 8.0 was apparently flawless. However, the program cannot be started. When the dialog opens, it shows the files in some directory in the right pane, and a tree view of the directory hierarchy in the left pane. The tree view shows Favorites and Desktop (which is expanded to show My Computer, My Documents, Trash, /). If you then click on any of the + or - symbols in the tree view, the view in the right pane jumps to Favorites. For example, click the + next to My Computer and the view on the right changes to Favorites (which may be empty). The directory shown in the right pane should probably not change when the user clicks a + or - symbol in the left pane. WinUAE is one program which uses that type of file dialog. To show the problem, download and run the WinUAE installer, check the box to run the program at the end.
