The service manager starts fine but when I ask the service manager to start the service I get an error that I can find in the user guide of the original software package. The user's manual says it will prompt the user for credentials under "Run As" but never does and fails saying I don't have the correct priviledges to run the service manager in wine. How can I spoof the program to think I'm the admin. When I launch the game an empty, black window is opened, titled 'The Bureau: XCOM Declassified (32-bit, DX9)'. The game executable constantly uses 100% CPU, but the game doesn't load. The process has to be killed to quit. Changing Windows profile to Vista or Seven doesn't help. It might be that this can't be done as font matching/replacing takes place at much later stage, yet would be nice if someone could verify one way or the other. Perhaps those names should simply hardcoded to be returned in Japanese locale, regardless of the fonts being actually present ? Directory is not pre-made, so Wine created the directory and did the work. 3. chose Windows 7 and enabled CSMT, VAAPI, EAX under "Staging" tab in winecfg 3. Used Winetricks to install vcrun 2005 - 2015, vcrun6, vcrun6sp6; msxml4 and 6;msc40 and 42 to run Clip Studio Paint 1.6.2 Installed Clip Studio Paint 1.6.2 and started the software with stylus on tablet ready for use. Running the software I got an error saying "Running on unsupported OS. OS is not Windows 7 or later" --- This software runs on Windows 7. I ran this software on a Windows 7 64bit machine before. Clicked passed it, and the workspace loads but I couldn't draw on the canvas. Upon opening, ErrorReportClient.exe crashes and gives an error. I disabled this in the config file and when I open it as it gets to the stage "Initializing UI" a popup appears saying "Application has generated an exception that could not be handled" Process ID=0x7a(122) Thread ID=0x41(65)and I am forced to close. I have installed this app in windows (same exe file) and it works without issues. I followed the guide at https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=33292 without the dlls and with Windows version set to Windows 7. I would be so appreciative if you can help with this issue as I would absolutely need and love Vegas in Wine. This is my first report so I hope I did it right! Thank you for your time. Repro steps: - If you don't yet have one, create a Second Life account/avatar (it's free). - Download the current official viewer: https://viewer-download.secondlife.com/Viewer_7/Second_Life_7_2_3_193756953… - rm -rf ~/.wine;winecfg (i.e. start with a fresh prefix, just to eliminate any other issue). - Install the viewer. - At the end of the installation process, the SLVersionChecker.exe program that is launched will crash (see the SLVersionCheckerCrash.png screenshot in the attached zip file), but this is a known issue that can easily be worked around: simply delete or rename "~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/SecondLife/SLVersionChecker.exe" (this updater program is not required to run the viewer itself). - Launch the viewer (it will complain with a dialog about the missing version checker: just acknowledge with "OK"), enter your account/avatar credentials, then log-in. - Observe the crash around the end of the login process (progress bar around 85%). The installer window cannot remain minimized and always forces itself back to the foreground, ignoring window manager rules and user actions. This happens with every GOG installer tested, including base game installers and DLC installers. The issue appears to be related to incorrect handling of window manager hints in Wine’s X11 driver. The installer forcibly raises itself even when minimized, which breaks normal desktop usage. Expected behavior: The installer window should behave like a normal application window: • remain minimized when minimized • not force itself to the foreground • respect WM rules and stacking order • not override user actions Actual behavior: • minimizing the installer works for ~1 second • the window immediately restores itself • it jumps to the foreground • it ignores WM control • it cannot be kept in the background This happens consistently with all GOG installers. Steps to reproduce: 1. Download any GOG game with exe installer(s). 2. Run it wine Wine by double click in order to use the GUI. 3. Try to minimize the installer's window. 4. Observe its return to "on top" state almost immediately. Temporary workaround: Disable window manager control in winecfg. Additional notes: The issue appears to be specific to GOG’s NSIS‑based installers, which use custom window hooks. The behavior is reproducible both on a clean Wine prefix with no overrides and a customized prefix with thousands of overrides. Starts with version 10.7 for sure and remains unchanged with 11.0-rc5. I found a permanent workaround - a script for silent installation but most people will wanna use the GUI of the GOG installers, so this problem must be fixed. However, with Wine, the main window only shows the links with "X" text instead of the proper action text. On the biggest monitor, wine application don't go fullscreen correctly, vertically size seems to be limited by the size of the smallest monitor. In my example if I fullscreen WORD I get some of the UI missing and a desktop background stripe in the lower part of the monitor. I tried to install visual c++ 2013 as a solution but it doesnt help. Prewiosly I used it on windows 8 and 10 with the same hardware, so its OK. This is last update of shadermap software. I really need it to run coz no such good alternative for linux. Thanks for help! I am not sure if thats due wintab32,because im not a developer. Applications like SAI that are wonderfully small ,full featured and even better than photoshop for CG coloring (better brushes,other key features) work almost perfectly fine on wine, but their practically useless when tablet pressure doesnt work.. http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=11044 another application that is a freeware and a fine substitute for painter is http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=7425&iTestingI… tablet pressure works on photoshop and artrage,but not on many other key applications in the graphic world that crucially depend on it. This feature is very important,since there are absolutely no alternatives to these applications on linux (if you study their key features you'll see there arent any on windows too at the moment,especially Sai). The applications work almost perfectly on wine,but that lack of this feature stops people from taking advantage of that. Another application is Open Canvas... In detail: 1. configure "virtual desktop" mode via winecfg 2. Start EliteDangerous in Wine 3. Open a view inside EliteDangerous where every mouseclick (independent of cursor position) will have an effect (e.g. cockpit mode -> mouse-1 fires weapon) 4. switch to another X11 window (e.g. Firefox) 5. click onto something When clicking in Firefox, the click also get send into the game. So e.g. the primary weapon gets fired in the game. Alternatively, the cursor can also positioned over an ingame button (e.g. in the main menu). Then get another window into foreground without moving the mouse (e.g. alt-tab) and then click. This will trigger the ingame button over which the cursor lasted before switching windows. The app runs fine on 32 bit i386 with no errors. Running under a 64 bit architecture it comes up with an error: Debug Assertion Failed. There are abort, retry and ignore options given. Retry and subsequently show details gives the backtrace listing attached below. Ignore, followed by OK starts iUAT normally. Wine is version 1.7.12 64bit. Can this error be eliminated? Thanks.
