However there are other WMV files in the game that have only video part such as 'loading.wmv' which is a simple animated screen that leads to the main menu when you start the game. This loading animation used to work properly until Wine-10.18, but now the game crashes before the main menu could be loaded. Reverting commit d8646199d8181b0b2ab713ab33d351459f154d3d fixes the crash for me. Reverting commit df7943684d11c4ad26128da2abc1506f29c4eb45 fixes the problem for me. This happens whether I'm starting the game under X (XFCE) or XWayland / native Wayland driver on KDE Plasma 6.5.5. Also happens when switching back to the old GLX backend. Terminal output doesn't show anything relevant. The game's own exception handler always kicks-in and I don't know how to disable it. It saves a 'Program.RPT' in the root of the wineprefix which shows that an exception occurred in wined3d. The bug also affects the 'classic' version of Gothic 1 that is still available on GOG.com. However the audio associated with the videos is reproduced correctly with all builtin. To be able to play in game sound the game need these dlls setted to native:dsound,dmime,dmsynth,dmusic,dswave However when setting dsound as native the audio of the videos (as the intro video) is not played anymore (the video component of the video is still played perfectly). To experience this issue you need to set as native dsound.dll only. Since wine 11.0 and 11.1, dragging a folder or any single song results in some gibberish record which cannot be played. The newspaper spins onto the screen way faster than it should. Then on the world map, once it focuses in on the first level dot, the text bounces at a very high speed, much higher than on Windows. Then the more major glitch(es): stalling issues. Clicking play to load in the level, and after clicking off the level name, the shooter takes a long time to fade in, and after every shot, especially shots that hit a wrong color on the spot board in the center, there is a very pronounced lag before you are allowed to shoot again. so much so that game playability is severely compromised. Exiting the game also takes a much longer time than it should, probably the same glitch. Since it's an older game I tried running with Windows version set to XP, the problems still occur. There are two reasons for this failure: * VarParseNumFromStr() expects the currency sign to precede the monetary amount. This is not how it works in most European languages such as French, German, Swiss, etc. * VarParseNumFromStr() normally does not allow spaces between the monetary amount and the currency sign. However in French the thousands separator is a non-breaking space and that's a special case that also allows regular spaces. So, because in this case VarParseNumFromStr() is called with NUMPRS_THOUSANDS, it should ignore that space and successfully parse the trailing currency sign. It's a little piece of software used to administer a particular manufacturer's equipment, commonly used at radio and TV stations. I can confirm it has, and does, work fine under Wine 2.21 - just tested today on a MacBookPro8,1 running the official binaries (https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/macosx/pool/winehq-staging-2.21.pkg) under OS 10.13.6. Meanwhile, I have a new Mac (MacBookPro16,2 - Intel-based), on which I’ve deployed Wine 7.0 via homebrew under OS 12.6.1. There I can start nfremote just fine... but it ignores my mouse input. If I were to start it with the command-line argument "run", it presents me with a window where both keyboard and mouse input are accepted; there I can type in the text fields, so I know it's responsive. But when I hover the cursor over buttons, they do not 'light up’ to indicate such. And when I click, nothing happens. Even in years past, I found that newer versions of Wine exhibited the issue I describe below, so I simply never updated beyond 2.21.
