(see attached log) The log points to the error happening on trying to read with offset 0xC4 at winmm.dll + 0x1b0e0, which I traced to the code line: *lphMix = (HMIXER)WINMM_MakeHWAVE(uDeviceID, TRUE, mmdevice->mixer_count); (specifically mmdevice->mixer_count as mixer_count is on offset +0xC4 Looking at the source and this is the erroneous flow as I understand it: 1. Game calls mixerOpen for the default device mixerOpen (06B77BBC, 0, 0, 0, 0) 2. mixerOpen calls WINMM_InitMMDevices() which in turn generates a map of output devices using WINMM_EnumDevices() 3. To populate the default device WINMM_EnumDevices() compares the pointer to the default device (gotten by IMMDeviceEnumerator_GetDefaultAudioEndpoint()) to the pointer to each device in the device list (gotten by WINMM_InitMMDevice()): if(device == def_dev) (*map)[0] = &(*devices)[n]; for some reason (unstable COM Pointers?) the default device pointer for each method isn't equal for the same underlying default device which results in g_out_map[0] remaining null 4. When mixerOpen tries to get the default device it gets the null pointer and tries to access ->mixer_count, which causes the crash. I then tried to fix it by looking up the ID of the device and comparing this instead of the pointers and that solved the issue, it successfully opened a mixer for the device and the game started with working audio (see attached patch file) -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. So it installed WineHQ 11. However the new look is horrible and over magnified using MapSource from Garmin and other software as well. I use MapSource to map speed traps within France. I tried to modify the DPI with winecfg to no avail ... I tried to reverse to the previous 10 version using the 5 packages available for Focal 20.04 to no avail ... In fact you modified heavily the Windows title bar and font so heavily that's horrible. Here is a screenshot from the version 10 working nicely. And a new screenshot with your modifies parameters I cannot reverse, it looks over zoomed. It looks like I can still modify the text size but not at all the graphics. While having restored the packages from version 10 the destroyed level of zoom ... over zoom, is still there. Everything else is silent. I have OpenAL installed, and ~/.alsoftrc contains: austin(a)midna:~$ cat .alsoftrc drivers = alsa I've tried disabling mmdevapi in winecfg, changing windows version to vista/7, using hardware emulation, using OSS instead of ALSA, etc., but have yet to get any sound out. The AppDB suggests installing foobar2000, then: "Use foobar2000 to set the playback device and then select the Direct Analog version in MassEffect2Config.exe." though in the configuration tool's audio tab, the sound devices list is empty, for me (with/without foobar2000). R23 from what I tested just hangs on Initializing Software I would love to hear some ideas to get these versions of Cinema 4D working and or some confirmation that this is a bug with wine. In my current version of wine 10.14 it is locked to 60 FPS (the HZ of respective screen) but every update after 10.14 (.15, .16 and .17) the application has dropped to 25 FPS (60ms) and 20 FPS in fullscreen mode, this number is a bit higher on my HD monitor compared to the 4k ones. Plane9 is an openGL applicaiton and I got the FPS from mangohud. I've tested plane9 in each version has they come out with the same result. For .17 a new mono version was added and I also tried it with that, no luck. I appolgize if the bug is a general openGL one that I simply do not know about.
