The software is located at: https://www.retevis.com/downloads/software?_gl=1*a9rmrb*_up*MQ..*_gs*MQ..&g… RetevisCps_V1.1.9_X86.exe When launched, the software will dowload 'MicrosoftEdgeWebview2Setup.exe', which I was able to install to completion. Then when the retevis sofware is launched again, it runs and provides a significant amount of debug information on the console (see first attachment) then just stops. Nothing found on the Retevis site to assist with this install, except a 2 year old note that said the install could stall if 'mfc140.dll' is not found, so I used winetricks to install that and there didn't seem to be a change in response (see 2nd attachment of console debug output). The others have the correct appearance and cursor but do nothing. (This is unfortunate if the first character is a newline!) Tested Dead Island 2 with multiple upstream Wine versions (Kron4ek vanilla/staging builds, no custom patches), each using a fresh prefix. Results: Wine 9.22 (x64) – Game launches, DX12 initializes, swapchain created, intro video begins, then crashes immediately when the video starts. Wine 10.20 (x64) – Same behavior as 9.22: crash occurs exactly when the intro video starts. Wine 11.6 (x64) – Game crashes instantly right after the splash screen on the desktop. It does not reach the intro video. All versions tested with clean prefixes. No DLL overrides. No Windows DLLs. No custom patches. Logs show GStreamer caps negotiation failures during intro video playback on Wine 9.x–10.x, and an earlier crash in Wine 11.x. Only a call of Direct3DDevice3::SetLightState(D3DLIGHTSTATE_MATERIAL) updates the active material properties. This differs from the behaviour on Windows: at least for Direct3DMaterial3, you can call SetLightState(D3DLIGHTSTATE_MATERIAL) once with the material, and then just call SetMaterial on the material itself to change the properties for each batch of primitives. This is visible in the game "I've Got Some BALLS", which uses this pattern of a single SetLightState followed by many SetMaterial/primitive batches. Under Wine, all primitives are rendered with the material values that were present at the SetLightState call, which happen to have a diffuse colour of 1,0,0 so everything is red. Under Windows (tested most recently on Server 2022) this renders correctly in full colour and with specular, etc changing as well.
