This problem occurs in different sections of QQ, DingTalk, and corporate WeChat. For example, some fonts on the landing page of QQ are not displayed； some fonts are not displaye when sending a message on the meeting interface of corporate WeChat. I click to add an account, the font display of QQ fails on M1, but successed on M2. By use WINEDEBUG=+relay,I find when text show on M2, APPs called API:ScriptTextOut,and then text show successed. But on M1, APPs called API:ExtTextOutW, and then text show fails. I just started to suspect that QQ has different versions installed on different machines, so I packaged all the files of QQ installed on the virtual machine into a zip file, and then took this file to the physical machine to run, but the text still cannot be show on the physical machine. I don't know why QQ calls different APIs on the physical machine and the virtual machine to output text, so I'm asking for your help. When modern cross-platform engines (specifically Unreal Engine 4/5, e.g., Borderlands 4) attempt to launch background update scripts via cmd.exe /c, they frequently pass un-sanitized, mixed-slash paths (e.g., C:/users/.../PersistentDownloadDir/GbxRelaunch.bat). Because wcmd evaluates the slash as an invalid switch (e.g., /users), the execution fails instantly with an unrecognized command error. This breaks automatic game restarts and hotfix pipelines for numerous titles. (See attached terminal_output.txt for the exact error). Proposed Solution: Introduce an opt-in registry toggle within the AppDefaults hive that allows wcmd to sanitize forward slashes to backslashes for specific calling executables before parsing. * Registry Key: HKCU\Software\Wine\AppDefaults\[CallingProcess.exe] * Proposed Value: "CmdForgiveSlashes"="1" (String or DWORD) * Behavior: When wcmd is spawned, it checks the AppDefaults of the parent process. If the flag is present, a lightweight sanitization routine converts / to \ in the execution buffer before the standard wcmd parsing logic takes over. Architectural Rationale & Preempting Regressions: * Zero Regression Blast Radius: By defaulting to strict legacy parsing and requiring an explicit AppDefaults override, there is zero risk to legacy enterprise scripts, background redistributables, or unrelated software within the same WINEPREFIX. The execution state remains entirely deterministic. * Avoiding Hardcoded Hacks: This prevents the need to continuously merge game-specific string exceptions into the core wcmdmain.c codebase as new games release. * Empowering Downstream Wrappers: Native Windows cmd.exe occasionally relies on undocumented, dynamic heuristics to successfully execute these mixed-slash paths. Perfectly cloning those undocumented heuristics in wcmd is dangerous for legacy stability. Exposing this registry hook gives downstream maintainers (like Proton and CrossOver) a safe, standardized way to configure the environment via their own application profiles without patching Wine's core C code. Internet Explorer 7 or later is required. Continue?" If I continue, a wine error (page fault) is produced. Something is preventing the launcher from detecting that IE is "installed". Attached is the console paste of all the "fixmes" produced when I click continue, before the page fault popup is shown. I could post the page fault but I don't think there's any point? For example, if I want to install something I have in that share and I run the `setup.exe` file from `wine explorer`, it works; but if I run it from `wine uninstaller`, it fails saying that characters "/:<>|" are forbidden in paths. Also, if I installed MS Excel and try to open a .xslx file from a samba share in Nautilus (right button > open with > MS Excel), it fails saying that it cannot find the file. This makes the UX very uncomfortable, because the user needs to copy the file to a local drive, edit it, and then copy it back to the network share. In Notepad under Windows these sequences will do nothing. In Notepad under Wine these sequences will cause the character to be added to the document. Perhaps it is related to 'TranslateAccelerator' API but this is just a guess. The real problem is with 'Notepad++' where these sequences are the default accelerators for zoom control so chars are added to the document whenever zoom is changed. The issue only occurred after upgrading from Wine version 11.0.1 to 11.1-2. The issue is not resolved by: - Deleting the Wine prefix (rm -rf ~/.wine) and reinstalling the game - Deleting the safefile of the game (rm -rf ~/'NFS Most Wanted') - Disconnecting all USB peripherals, except the gamepad, before starting the game - Using another USB port for the gamepad, a different USB cable or a different gamepad of the same type Furthermore the gamepad causes no problems in other games that are installed outside of Wine. First one is the 2D far field plot tab. This one works. Second one is the small icon on top right, the 3D far field plot. This one does not work any more. The window pops up allows to choose 5°-setting and after enter a blank window appears instead a graphic. Export does not work too. The graphic file is corrupted and cant be opened. Farfield plot is a own sub program and this .exe was also marked to be run under win7 in the config like all other too. It should return `ERROR_NOT_LOCKED` (158) instead. This breaks Rust's `std::fs::File::unlock`, which deliberately calls `UnlockFile` twice on every release (to handle the documented case of a handle holding both an exclusive and a shared lock on the same region), and explicitly tolerates `ERROR_NOT_LOCKED` on the second call but propagates any other error [1]. The result is a spurious "Lock violation" error reported by Rust programs that use `File::unlock` under Wine. I encountered this downstream while adding a Wine integration test in uv [2]. In `server/fd.c`, `unlock_fd()` calls `set_error(STATUS_FILE_LOCK_CONFLICT)` when no lock with the exact (start, end) is found on the handle [3]. Per `dlls/ntdll/error.h` that status maps to `ERROR_LOCK_VIOLATION` (33) [4], whereas the semantically correct status for "no such lock" is `STATUS_RANGE_NOT_LOCKED`, which maps to `ERROR_NOT_LOCKED` (158) [5, 6]. As a testcase 「虚毒ノ夢」 will be used - a (it seems - I don't actually know Japanese) freeware game available from https://kanawo.wixsite.com/teritoma/kodoku (first link is the download: https://www.freem.ne.jp/dl/win/15104) Problem 1. As you might notice, the window title is purely mojibake. CreateWindowEx expects CP_ACP string in cs->lpszName, but it's getting an utf8 one. That's pretty much sums up what I could figure out about this part. Problem 2. This one is more tricky to notice; also, I couldn't figure out much about it, so just describing symptoms. Some of the strings printed on the screen (AFAICT neither by gdi, gdiplus nor user32 standard text functions) are read from memory then written on the screen past their actual length. What's more, they flicker - that is if such string is printed, some of the time its extra part changes upon redraw. As far as I understand mono (which, granted, isn't all that much), it would suggest that upon string object creation its length is set incorrectly.
