[For details on the software check the app database](https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=430…) The software is used to help creating the tax report in Germany. At the very end, one need to create a PDF file which is then transmitted to the tax department. However, the PDF file is never properly rendered but just a blank file with some horizontal lines and fractured digits. The (attached) log is full of FIXME-messages related to the library d2d saying that it ignores a certain stroke style. > fixme:d2d:d2d_device_context_DrawGeometry Ignoring stroke style Apparently it affects this special setting as one can draw PDF files at other points in the program. Underlying issue: If a ::select is done on a socket that can be ::recv'ed from, but is already closed at that time, the socket will be part of the except-fd_set. This does *not* happen under linux (or windows). I have attached a patch for the wineserver that fixes it under my machine and also a proof of concept to show the deviation between wine, linux and native. Old WOW64 closes the NEW PROJECT window and opens the standalone app but new WOW64 malfunctions somewhere in between. I built a fresh new WOW64 from scratch just in case of a fluke but bug remains. This converts the coordinates to Client coordinates. However, according to MSDN, for `LV_VIEW_ICON` and `LV_VIEW_SMALLICON` modes, `LVM_GETITEMPOSITION` must return View coordinates (absolute coordinates on the canvas), not Client coordinates. MSDN Documentation reference for LVM_GETITEMPOSITION: "In icon or small icon view, the LVM_GETITEMPOSITION message returns the item's position in view coordinates. To get the client coordinates of an item, subtract the origin from the view coordinates." Symptoms & Application Behavior: This bug breaks the top thumbnail strip in full screen mode of FastStone Image Viewer (FSViewer.exe) when scrolling horizontally. The thumbnail strip is a ListView in Icon mode (height: 150px). When the user scrolls to the right by approximately the width of the screen (e.g., ~1900px on a 1080p monitor), the thumbnails suddenly disappear, leaving blank white spaces and cropped thumbnails. The Mathematical Root Cause: Because Wine incorrectly returns Client coordinates instead of View coordinates, a "double subtraction" occurs in the application's logic: 1. Wine calculates internally: `Returned_X = Absolute_X - ScrollPos` (by adding the negative Origin). 2. FSViewer (following MSDN) attempts to calculate the client position to determine if the item is visible: `App_Client_X = Returned_X - ScrollPos`. 3. The resulting math is: `App_Client_X = Absolute_X - 2 * ScrollPos`. When `ScrollPos` exceeds the width of the window (e.g., scrolling past 1920px), the calculated right edge of the visible items becomes negative. FSViewer incorrectly concludes that all items have moved off-screen to the left. To save resources, FSViewer returns `CDRF_SKIPDEFAULT` (0x4) during the `CDDS_PREPAINT` custom draw notification. Wine respects this flag, skips drawing the items, and `BitBlt` copies a blank/white double-buffer background to the screen. Proposed Fix / Patch: The addition of `Origin` should be restricted to `LV_VIEW_DETAILS` and `LV_VIEW_LIST` views, where Client coordinates are actually expected. The issue started when I updated to 11.0 (I skipped rc5). Steps to reproduce in clean prefix (wineboot --init, no overrides, no env vars): 1. Install base DAZ Studio 4.24.0.4 (no content needed). 2. Launch DAZ. 3. Window → Workspace → Select Layout... → Cancel 4. Try to open Window menu again → menu does not appear (click has no effect). Log (+err,+warn,+qt,+focus,+menu,+popup) shows: - First menu open: system popup created (e.g., 0x10262/0x10264), all standard items inserted (&Restore, &Move, etc.), NtUserThunkedMenuInfo applied, default set, get_menu_state checks. - Dialog close: NtUserDestroyMenu destroys popup handles. - Second (and third) menu attempt: identical creation cycle (new handle, items inserted again, etc.). - But no MapNotify/Expose/visibility events for the second popup — menu never appears on screen. I think it might be a good idea to open a bugreport about the application not being able to load builtin comctl32, maybe one of the developers has an idea how to fix this, and maybe this "black display" issue might be solved then as well -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
