Surrogate pairs are rendered as two separate .notdef squares instead of a single glyph. BMP characters render correctly with the same font. To reproduce: display any SMP character (e.g. U+1F600) using a font with glyf outlines covering that range (e.g. Noto Emoji). Each emoji shows as two squares instead of one. The root cause is in dlls/win32u/font.c — the character-to-glyph mapping loops process each WCHAR independently without checking for UTF-16 surrogate pairs. There is currently no surrogate handling code in font.c at all. Affected functions: font_GetGlyphIndices(), get_total_extents(), nulldrv_ExtTextOut(). Real-world impact: WPF applications using emoji or other SMP characters in UI elements (e.g. toolbar labels) show broken rendering under Wine. Patch and Test are ready very soon. Seems to load everything, including GUI, then as soon as I'd expect it to be started, it instantly crashes. I think this started with Wine 11.0, but I'm not entirely sure. They all show as last frame `copy_stack_data_internal` with a memcpy. I was able to reproduce it with a local tree too. If I revert following patch ASan stays silent: 34a8563df2b "mscoree: Use coop-aware thread attach functions." In winecfg, enable the virtual desktop (the game crashes on start without it) 2. Run D:\foxbear\foxbear.exe from the Windows 95 Game SDK CD 3. Press Alt+Enter to switch to windowed mode On Wine, the solid blue of the sky and the solid greens of the trees and grass change to black. Interestingly, the solid colors are still black even after pressing Alt+Enter again to switch back to fullscreen mode. When I run the game on Windows 95 on my 486, the colors remain correct when switching between fullscreen and windowed mode. Like many others, I would be grateful if you could run Photoshop in Wine. Unfortunately, Wine in its current form does not allow this to be done. Photoshop either crashes or doesn't start at all. Many people still can't upgrade to Linux due to the lack of Photoshop support. It installs, but it doesn't work. I found a solution where you don't have to do anything at all. There is a project that allows you to launch Photoshop 2021 and it works fine. I place a critical importance, as it is important to a huge number of people. I think it can be done a long time ago. The number of people who will be grateful to you will be huge. I have been professionally involved in graphics for many years and know many people and studios who would have switched to Linux a long time ago. If you provide Photoshop support, the Linux community will grow significantly. Because Photoshop − It's the only thing that can't be replaced.
