Can you provide a screenshot of what it should look like as I don't know if any menus are failing to load? Bear in mind I tested the free version. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60376 Bernhard Übelacker <bernhardu@mailbox.org> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |bernhardu@mailbox.org --- Comment #8 from Bernhard Übelacker <bernhardu@mailbox.org> --- Hello, the first attachement shows this instruction in simintro.exe: simintro+0x669de0: vmovups 0x9ae98(%rip), %xmm0" => 0x0000000140669de0 <extdev_InitialiseDllInterface+751872>: c5 f8 10 05 98 ae 09 00 vmovups 0x9ae98(%rip),%xmm0 # 0x140704c80 One thing to consider may be the address alignment. With register rip containing 0x140669de0 the address to access should be 0x140704c78. But if I read right vmovups should be able to handle unaligned accesses. Second thing may be the general processor support for AVX instructions. Can you please put the output of lscpu into a file and attach it here? -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60376 --- Comment #12 from Circlotron2 <busomatic@gmail.com> --- Second pc, rolled it back to a backup disk image that had wine 11.12. Simetrix 9.4 still fails with "Unhandled exception: illegal instruction" message and after 60 seconds starts up with no menus, same as before. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60376 --- Comment #13 from Bernhard Übelacker <bernhardu@mailbox.org> --- Thanks for providing the information. Both backtraces show the same failing instruction. Unfortunately both CPUs seem not to support AVX instructions. There is no "avx" listed in the "flags" paragraph. ("Intel Core i3-370M" from 2010, "Intel Celeron G1820" from 2014) Additionally it looks like the vendor of simintro.exe decided to allow the compiler to use those instructions. I assume this same crash would happen when starting it with Windows at the same CPU. Therefore I fear this is not a Wine issue. There may be a possiblity to run the software when using something like libbadcpu.so from https://github.com/Z3ki/sober-oss, but this is out of Wine's scope and, if it would work, may make it unusable slow, depending how much simintro.exe is using those instructions. Much simpler may be to use a more recent CPU. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60376 --- Comment #14 from Ken Sharp <imwellcushtymelike@gmail.com> --- Under Windows 10 with avx disabled the application still starts, but reports that the application has expired. (It works fine with avx enabled) So the behaviour is different under Windows and Wine. Of course it might be a combination of no avx and some other missing CPU feature (disabling xsave as well made no difference). -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60376 --- Comment #15 from Circlotron2 <busomatic@gmail.com> --- Tried it again on two laptops both running Mint Mate 22.3 in VirtualBox. The one with the i5 cpu ran okay; the one with the i3 cpu failed. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
