Could you also give us your XFree version ?
I heard some reports of input problems with XFree 4.3 so maybe it's the case too
on your box.
If you upgraded X, did you retest the 20030115 snapshot on your current
configuration ?

So what would be great would be two logs as requested : one in Desktop and the
other in Managed mode so that I could compare.

update:
this is very important to mention: this bug does NOT exist when running wine in
'managed' mode, as opposed to 'desktop' mode.

Yes, please attach a full log. Do not forget to press on the 'f' key and to let
it hold for me to look at what you report :-)
You could also try to disable auto-repeat (using xset) before starting Wine and
tell me if you still have the 'on / off' bug.

i ran hl.exe (the half life executable) with the following parameter to wine:
`--debugmsg +dinput,+event'
the debug log it generated primarily consists of the following sequence:
trace:event:EVENT_ProcessEvent Got event MotionNotify for hwnd 0x2004c
trace:event:EVENT_ProcessEvent returns.
if the full debug log is needed let me know.
(btw, i believe it is relevant to note that i am running wine in 'desktop' mode,
so that half life runs in a window encompassed by the wine desktop.)

Could you attach to this report a '--debugmsg +dinput,+event' trace of the problem ?
It looks as if keyboard auto-repeat were not disabled when the keyboard is
acquired, but this did not change recently.

Summary: keyboard input repeats in half life (possibly other
directx apps)
Product: Wine
Version: 20030219
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.com
ReportedBy: boxer(a)boxware.cx
holding down a key, such as the flashlight key (default 'f') in half life,
causes the flashlight to turn off and on rapidly. this bug was introduced in the
20030219 snapshot and has not been fixed in any recent CVS revisions. it did not
exist in the 20030115 snapshot. i would assume that this bug was introduced by a
change in the `dinput' code. at this time i am unable to verify whether this bug
is reproduceable in other directx games. contact me if any additional details or
clarification are necessary.
