Summary: winesetuptk: Cannot find name for group ID
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
URL: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=136577
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-tools
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.com
ReportedBy: ovek(a)arcticnet.no
This is an old bug against a version of winesetuptk that's very old, but I want
to clean out my old bugs, and as far as I'm concerned, this old winesetuptk
version is still the "current" one; if someone can tell me where I can get a
newer version of winesetuptk than 0.6.0b, I'd love to know.
Anyway, report by Michael De Nil <flecxie(a)aerythmic.be>:
When finishing the 'fake windows'-procedure, I get:
Error: 1000
id: cannot find name for group ID 1000
Group ID 1000 belongs to my standard user and is in the /etc/groups
I tried with other users, but recieved the same error (with another
group ID)

This is apparently a regression in Wine releases 20030618 (and 20030709),
experienced by a Alfie Costa <agcosta(a)gis.net>, when trying to send in Pegasus Mail.

winelauncher contains a message like this:
Note that one change you can make that will dramatically
effect Wine's behaviour is to change whether or not
Wine uses a true Windows partition, mounted under Linux,
or whether it uses an empty Windows directory.
There's a complaint that this message is very unclear, see URL.

I did this, and did the appropriate chmod to 644.
Then I got:
/usr/bin/wine: error while loading shared libraries: libntdll.dll.so: cannot
open shared object file: No such file or directory
After which I reinstalled wine, which resolved the issue completely.
(Although I'd suggest putting a note about the "font metrics"
one-time startup thingie in your installation notes... it took
long enough I wondered if it was intended or not.
Thanks for your help, Mike.

Summary: Grim Fandango regression: no sound in animated cutscenes
Product: Wine
Version: 20030618
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: wine-multimedia
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.com
ReportedBy: torbjorn.e.andersson(a)tietoenator.com
LucasArts's "Grim Fandango" used to work pretty much flawlessly in the 20030508
snapshot and earlier, but in 20030618 and 20030709 I no longer get any sound in
the animated cutscenes. I also don't get any subtitles in them, which makes me
wonder if it's a sound regression at all, or if the problem is somewhere else.
Everywhere else in the game the sound is still working fine, just as before.
Unfortunately I've been unable to figure out exactly when it broke. I tried
regression testing, but most of the snapshots between 20030508 and 20030618 were
completely broken for me, as far as Grim Fandango was concerned.
I can provide traces, of course, but they tend to be rather big so I don't want
to attach any right now without being sure of exactly what to trace.

this is harmless, and just a missing feature. you do not need to report FIXME messages.
