Confirming.
These BadAlloc bugs are getting very problematic. I don't know where they come
from (I asked Wine-devel about it some time ago but didn't get an answer), but
many applications are affected by it !

I'm not being critical, merely replying.
I reported this bug well over a year ago and received no resolution. As
a result, I moved on and rebuilt all Quattro Pro spreadsheets in
OpenOffice. I've not booted Windows since and don't have it on my box.
For my purposes, this issue can be closed.

Summary: non-TrueType fonts (e.g. Courier) garbled
Product: Wine
Version: 20050930
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-gui
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: andrewz(a)springsrescuemission.org
To reproduce
1. Run wine notepad
2. Select any of these fonts: Courier, MS Sans Serif, System
3. The sample shown is garbled
Oddly, clicking on the font name again to reselect it produces a clear image.
It seems the redraw is correct but the original draw is not.
The font problem also affects a proprietary application which uses these fonts
(I think MS Sans Serif).
I have this problem on Fedora Core 4 with these RPMs:
wine-20050524-1fc3winehq.athlon.rpm
wine-20050930-1fc3winehq.athlon.rpm
