When you install it you might run into bug 3318. This bug is harmless for the end result, but feel free to apply the patch that was posted in that thread. It doesn't change anything about this bug. Once the installation program is done there will be a WORDVIEW.EXE on your system, by default in ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Microsoft Office/OFFICE11 Run this WORDVIEW.EXE program in Wine, and the screen pops up with a File dialog. I'll attach an image of how this dialog looks. In the image, I've drawn 2 arrows. The green arrow points at the field in which the filename should be entered. It's got some extra controls that shouldn't be there. The red arrow points at the button that should bring the dialog one directory up. The screen refreshes, but the directory isn't changed. After changing the sound server (for example OSS) and retrying ALSA, ALSA does not work. There is no sound. You probably refering to SHFileOperation (and msdn links indicate that indeed you are) - changing Summary. On the contrary to what msdn sais I can't reproduce this behavior with win2k.
