Google Earth doesn't run for me either, however I don't recieve an error from
the application itself, it just hangs indefinitely (using 0% CPU time). Wine
spits out the following:
fixme:atl:AtlModuleInit SEMI-STUB (0x465580 0x464758 0x400000)
fixme:imm:ImmGetContext (0x10020): stub
fixme:imm:ImmReleaseContext (0x10020, 0x7bc380e8): stub
fixme:imm:ImmGetContext (0x10020): stub

fixme:imm:ImmGetContext (0x10026): stub
fixme:imm:ImmReleaseContext (0x10026, 0x7bccbaa8): stub
This is also on Gentoo with Wine 20050930, but x86 rather than AMD64.

Just tested the Google Earth installer, and it worked fine for me (except it
complained about not finding psapi.dll for me also, this wasn't fatal
however). Google Earth itself does not seem to run though.

Summary: Unable to perform some changes to winecfg
Product: Wine
Version: 20050830
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: wine-console
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: I-SAngeli(a)siriush.com
Hi,
I run winecfg and have added a new application with custom .dll files.
I have also set the Graphics to Emulate a virtual desktop (this because
otherwhise it will not run properly).
Now, I wanted to remove the application from Applications folder so that it
would fall under Default. I can do so, hit Apply but the next time I load
winecfg it is back there.
Then, I have deselected Emulate a virtual desktop for the specific application
because now that I believe that works I wish to have it runing like a normal
application with its own native windows and not a viertual one. Although I have
this setting, it ignores it and runs it as if it would be enabled.
It seems to me that my settings are not saved or implemented properly.
How to solve these issues and also what is the file name where all my
configurations are saved? This to see on a clear text how wine is set.
Lastly, how do I know if printing and sound would work from any application
installed in wine?
thank you,
Spiro

Summary: Autocad and IE
Product: Wine
Version: 20050830
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P2
Component: wine-programs
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: I-SAngeli(a)siriush.com
Hi,
I am unable to install AutoCad because Internet Explorer is not installed /
detected by wine.
I started a Gentoo Forum Thread, which is:
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-386592-highlight-.html
I was adviced to install ies4linux.
I am at the point that Internet Explorer through ies4linux still does not
install properly.
So, I wish to ask two questions:
1) Is ies4linux the way to go or how to install Internet Explorer > 6.0 properly
in wine so that the applications I wish to install which relies on IE gets
installed?
2) If ies4linux is indeed the way to go, once IE is properly installed, how to
move (if I have to for consistency) all what was installed under .wine? I would
prefer having all applications installed under .wine, so that I have one Program
s one system folder. This will allow me to also have all the dll files all in
one plae when new apps create them.
Thank you for your support.

In at least one test, it took four minutes for Picasa's
to start its initial scan of the hard drive for images.
On Windows it starts immediately.
(Note that there was an NFS directory involved
in this test. The test should perhaps be
repeated without any NFS directories mounted.)
