I did a lot of things.
First I found out that my sound (in-kernel ALSA of kernel 2.6.13) was not
working with wine. So I tried different things like OSS, newest ALSA-package,
newer kernel etc.
My sound is still bad, but works (stuttering very bad) and HL2 starts now as
suspected.
So I guess this was just a sound issue. Maybe related to switching from gcc-3.3
to gcc-3.4 which caused a lot of problems on my system.
I don't know how I should mark this bug. Would "INVALID" be okay?

All the items on http://www.winehq.com/site?news=archive are very appreciated.
The only thing that is missing is a rss-feed for this page so interested people
don't have to check manually if new items are published.
Thanks!

Yes it can be fixed.
But i think it's useless why a game want a 12-bits frame buffer ? :)

The reason I am not submitting a log with WINEDEBUG=+ddraw here is that it takes
33MB. I can upload it to another server if anyone is interesed in looking at
it. The blue shadows that are blue are those that were supposed to be translucent.

Summary: Slowness and corruption in old DirectDraw game: Warlords
3
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.4.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx-ddraw
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: alex(a)thehandofagony.com
An old 2D strategy game, Warlords III: Darklords Rising, runs extremely slow and
with some graphical corruption. One of the issues is that shadows are solid blue.
This game should only require 75MHz and 16MB RAM, yet the above issues occur on
a Pentium 4 2.8GHz with 1GB RAM. It must be using a special function, as other
DirectDraw games with similar requirements, such as Heroes of Might and Magic I
& II, work fine.

I've been extensively using Orcad 9.2.2 Suite under latest versions of wine and
now results that the help works just perfect in all of its components, including
Capture.
What's still to be resolved is the bug on adding new elements, whatever you want
to add (components, title blocks, net aliases and so on), capture just ignores
it, does not hang or anything, and no debugging output...
