What you have read is most likely correct, wine does support some copy
protection schemes, but any that are unsupported are likely to throw this
message or one of any number of other similar ones ("Please insert the Original
CD", etc). Seems that this one is probably not supported and wont be for some
time. You have two options.
1) Try a no-cd patch and see if you still get that message. If not, it will
probably still die, so if it does, please open a new bug for that issue, and if
it runs, great!
2) Try WineX (google it). It is a version of wine (not made by us) that has
licensing deals with the major copy protection companies, and is designed with
gaming being the number 1 priority, so it is more likely to run it regardless of
whether a no-cd patch is used or not.
Also, if you do decide to try the no-cd patch, whether it works or not, could
you post a note back in here with the result, so that we can know for sure that
it is copy protection?
Hope that helps.

I mis-submitted the first time, listing Hardware as Other. It is in actuality PC
and is posted correctly in bug 2895

Summary: C&C Generals throws "Unload the debugger and try again."
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC

OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

ReportedBy: Fallen.Azrael(a)gmail.com
I've installed C&C Generals successfully via wine and am now attempting to run
it. It gives the error message "Unload the debugger and try again." Doing a
google search suggests that this may have something to do with EA's copy
protection. I own the game legitimately, and have the original CD in the drive.
Below I've included various information about my system, most likely extraneous,
but could be of use if the problem I'm having doesn't duplicate itself on other
systems.
Distribution: Gentoo(32-bit x86)
Kernel: 2.6.11-r5 with gentoo patches
Wine: wine20050419 (wasn't in the version list, so I left it as unspecified)
Compiled from source with:
CFLAGS="-O3 -march=pentium4 -pipe" ./configure --with-x
make depend && make
make install
Winetools used to add some basic components, IE6.0 installed manually.
I'll provide any further information that would be of use, just ask.

Summary: IPersistStream_fnLoad error

I posted this bug with version 20050310, but it was closed because I was unable
to install CVS and do the research to figure out exactly when the bug was
introduced.
Under version 20050211, msmoney 6.0 runs fine. When I installed 20050310 from
rpm, msmoney 6.0 wouldn't start. Under version 20050419, I have the same error.
When running msmoney 6.0, I get the following. I am *not* a Wine developer in
any way, so I have no clue how to pick through every CVS update since 20050211
and find the update that introduced this problem.

wcmd uses unsafe vsprintf. Since I compiled wine/wcmd with -fstack-protector, it
crashes when I run the 'set' command and one of the enviroment vars is too long.

Summary: Tooltip window steals focus and creates a "normal"

Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux

ReportedBy: fluxgen(a)gmail.com
When I am using the paradise poker client (http://paradisepoker.com) and hovers
over an user button the tooltip pops up and steals focus which is really
annoying. It also gets shown as a normal window without decorations which makes
it shown in the toolbar. I think it should be an override redirect window
instead of a normal
window.
It worked before 20050310 release (except the bug that made it not autohide).
