To make things even more bizarre: After submitting the bug reports I again downgraded wine to snapshot 20050524, only to find I can't either record in OSS emulation (downgrading ALSA didn't help). Still, in native ALSA mode, old snapshot plays and records just fine. For the record: It was NOT a swap of buttons because I ran the test suite one after another without changing mouse orientation and it remained in left-hand setting, then I changed it back to right-handed and ran the test suite then it turned to left-handed. I ran winecfg to discover my cd drive is not found. Upon running autodetect, the mount point (/media/cdrecorder) is found, as a "Local Hard Drive", not CDROM. Clicking apply has no effect, and the drive is not listed after restarting winecfg.
