I could not see anything unnormal with the Steam traffic. 3 UDP packets (53 bytes lengh) from me and then 1 packet from Valve (36 bytes lengh) to me, at the same pace, all the time. No other traffic was seen to/from Valve. This behavior did not change during Steam freeze. If it interests anyone, here's a dump on the 4 standard packets, 3 from me to Valve, and then 1 from Valve to me. So for this reason they are never going to implement such feature. But no one stops you or other guy from implementing it.
