Now I cite the e-mail from Allexandre Julliard, the author again of the second
patch that has broken things.
"This patch is the one that moved the dll overrides keys to the
registry, so it probably breaks things for you because you haven't
configured things in the right place. You have to configure odbccp32
as native in the registry after that patch. Using winecfg is probably
the easiest way to do it."
I did my first (so far just poor) experiments wint DLL overrides. Winecfg is
able to run for a half minute until it crashes, but there is a notion, that
winecfg is just too new and it dosen't change things so far, only allows to
view. I have tried to change some DLL overrides, and seemed that settings are
remembered, however I'm not sure if they are actually working either.
Any suggestions?

Hi saulius.
Please, don't take it bad, I recognise Your best efforts to help me.
I have done much for getting issue fixed, but this is getting too cryptic for me.
First, I don't clearly understand what You have written.
Second, I believed that this bug reporting pages are enough space for bugs. I
participate on many projects with some kind of bugzilla, but I was never forced
to join yet_another discussion in order to deal with the bugs. The bugzilla has
usually been enough (openoffice.org, kernel.org, mozilla.org). The only place
where it hasn't been enough is phpgroupware project that is slowly fading away..
So if this is not case in WINE, I think things should consolidate a bit, and
bugs.winehq.org should be place of full authority between users and developers
to manage bugs and their fixing..
I will do anything to help fix this bug, but for now things becomes unclear for me.
I wish You all the best You can bear in the new Year, and inspiration and
blessings in Your work.

Can one of the other posters please try it - I don't have my HL2 CDs with me at
the moment - won't have them back until Jan 21st.
Thanks for your work Mike.

Ok, it works if I run it when I am in its directory.

I actually searched for the bugs with MSI in keywords. Found none relevant. It
seems that bugzilla is case-sensitive.
Next time I'll search for a bugs with wine-msi component.
Confirming success with native msiexec.
