Had hopes that the latest 0.9.6 version of WINE might have fixed OziExplorer,
but it still aborts.
The program OziExplorer version 3.95.4k
which can be downloaded from :
http://www.oziexplorer.com/
under the left-hand menu 'OziExplorer'
It "almost" runs, but comes up with the following error
Exception EExternalException in module OziExp.exe at 00000000
External Exception 80000004
and hangs up
messages output are:
fixme:win:LockWindowUpdate ((nil)), partial stub!

Well, actually i had some idle cpucycles lying around and regression tested this
myself; it's one of the patches committed on 19th august 2004 that broke qwix.
I'll have another look at it tomorrow...

Created an attachment (id=1745)

stub for updatelayeredwindow
Try this patch to prevent the crash. With the patch, and native riched20 i was
able to get Evernotes running. (it suffers however of some minor redraw errors,
but that's another bug) Also , could you please open seperate bug reports for
seperate bugs. This bug was about the installer.

This morning I checked out and recompiled wine from cvs, and the game apparently
works! Though, it did not work with wine-0.9.6. I haven't the faintest idea what
fixed this.

I only partially agree with you. It seems particularly foolhardy to import a
modern linux shell environment into a 16 bit windows environment.
Anyway your advice is spot on. This works:
unset LS_COLORS
wine Bcs.exe
This actually gets past the "Insufficient space" error. Obviously LS_COLORS is a
big environement variable.
But the now working program has some kind of PATH error and cannot find its data
files, as I explained above.
I wonder if there would be a way to find out what DOS environment variables
there are in windows 3.11?
I have currently put the program in C:\bcs\ because the manual says that is
where it normally is. I have tried other places as well as "Bcs" etc.
I may go and travel to find a windows box and see what the default file
locations are for this program, and imitate on this fake_windows dir.
Thanks for all your help. I'm closer than I have been for a few years.
