You'll see winampa.exe running as a klunky size-zero window with nonfunctional titlebar decoration, and you'll see a Wine-systray task appear in the task bar. I've read the howto on appdb.winehq.org about mplab, but still doesn't work, I think it's an another problem. There is an option in winecfg on tab Graphics, 'Emulate virtual desktop', it must be checked to see the error window. Without it the Mplab only halts, without any error window.
