attempt at a client-side DIB copy patch for wine-0.9.22
Well, unimpressed by the slight performance improvement to Heroes 4 by Iulian's
dirty rectangle patch, I decided to look into the problem further. The message
"potential optimization - client side DIB copy" gets printed out a lot while
playing Heroes 4, and I tried to do a client-side DIB copy.
With this little patch, the frame rate is unbelievably high, but unfortunately
for some strange reason the graphics come out corrupted (mouse trails, stuff
drawn wrongly, flickering pictures).
I've already posted to wine-devel asking for help - nobody's replied in 2 days
:-( so I'm putting the patch here so it doesn't get lost. I will continue to
try different things - currently I'm looking into the possibility of the image
being modified on the X server while I copy pixels locally - but I would really
appreciate anyone with any knowledge of winex11.drv to look at it and comment,
I've been looking at the code for days and still don't know what's wrong.

Summary: Warcraft III - Audio
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx-dsound
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: atrauzzi(a)gmail.com
While playing Warcraft III, I get quite a few errors written to my console.
alt-click causes the window to be moved around and has once resulted in a fatal
crash (which was marred by audio anomalies).
Sound kind of flakey at times, often during load screens.
Also, would like to be able to configure Wine to output using my digital AC3
passthrough rather than wave-out as audio quality suffers on my sound chipset.

I don't have windows installed, so I can only provide the latter. The log is
available here: http://members.aon.at/mfranz/toolbar.log.bz2 [22 kB;
uncompressed: 2.7 MB]. All buttons are shifted down, so you can take "button
0" as an example.

Could you provide me a screenshot from Windows (preferably with the Windows
Classic theme) and a debug log with WINEDEBUG=+toolbar?

No, doesn't fix it. Looks exactly the same, hence no new screenshot. :-)
BTW: the patch only applied with an offset of 115, so I merged the line
manually in, just to be on the safe side. Anything else I can try? I wouldn't
mind adding some debugging messages if it helps.
