Thanks, Alexandre,
Commit 8532cc5654feb5cdb38ab8bd46b65d4e3864f769 fixed the issue, at least for me
with this 16 bit app.

Summary: Water render effects are incorrect in HL2 based games
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: wine-directx
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: svdw(a)udel.edu
Looking at water in HL2 based games (games with the source engine) the water
rendered is non-water like and distorts the sky rendered above it. I'd submit a
screenshot of this, however the screenshot function does not work in game atm.
I'll see what I can do to get a picture of this up.

I think I've isolated the problem. When Steam starts it also pops up a news
window. Sometimes that news window fails to load properly, or just fails to
load period. That is what's using the registry. To fix this you need to fix
the steam start-up.

Summary: Program 'WeatherLink' Unable to communicate with serial
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.23.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-resources
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: rwindiana(a)msn.com
The program I run for communication and downloading of data from my Davis
Vantage Pro weather station, WeatherLink, has not been working properly since
somewhere around WINE version 0.9.15, though I'm unsure of the exact version
that it quit working.
I run "wine WeatherLink52.exe" from and hit "download data from the weather
station" button and I see this output in the terminal:
fixme:comm:set_queue_size insize 4096 outsize 4096 unimplemented stub
fixme:comm:GetCommProperties (0x60 0x33ed28 )
WeatherLink reports that "Computer gave up waiting for a response from the
station." In other words, it behaves exactly as if the station is unplugged from
the serial port. It works fine on Windows, and on very old versions of WINE from
Debian Sarge, but not on current versions.

Had the same problem, running Notes 7.0.1 with wine 0.9.21 without any problems,
switching to wine 0.9.22 or 0.9.23 Notes client hangs on some mails from a
particular user and stop responding.
Not on every mail from that user, but on some. I could fix it in my case, it was
a problem with TTF fonts. I'd copy all MS fonts to wine font directory, which
was previous to 0.9.22 no problem, but the mails I had problems with use the MS
Comic TTF font (don't ask why anyone use them in mails). Removing the Comic TTF
fonts from Wine font directory and no crash while opening such mails, copy fonts
back...crash again.
It seems that beginning with Wine 0.9.22 something has changed in handling of
(MS) TTF fonts.
