Summary: PAF5.2 recursive error popup window
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.8.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: wine-binary
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: djrpublic(a)cfl.rr.com
Family Search's Personal Ancestral File 5.2.18.0
Wine 0.9.8 - Ubuntu Linux - Gnome 2.12.1
After selecting 'File-Print Reports' a small window pops-up with the message
"Please enter a positive integer". Clicking OK 13 times removes the error window
and brings up the correct multitabbed window where report content is selected.
A long string of "fixme:richedit:RichEditANSIWndProc ..." messages are generated
by this action.
BUT selecting any of the tabs brings up the same pop-up error message. Clicking
OK removes the error window. This action generates a string of
"fixme:richedit:RichEditANSIWndProc ..." messages.
Clicking 'OK' 'Close' or the close window [X] button generates an endless string
of the same pop-up error message.
One must kill the program to exit. Apparently there are no additional wine
messages displayed in the terminal window in the attempt to exit the report
function.

Updated wine this morning to 0.9.8
Selecting Individual tab or Edit Individual still crashes PAF with the same
debug message as before.
I have updated 4343 and will add another bug

Updated wine this morning
There is improvement here. ;-)
Now I can successfuly add an individual and edit the data. I'm not able to tell
if the add was truly successful because any of the 'Individual' selection tools
crash the program (bug 4344). At any rate the add individual screen looks
presentable - all the data can be read onscreen - much better. On running the
program I still get the same "fixme" messages that I have in the past.
I will update 4344 also I'm going to add another bug concerning PAF Reports

I will attach another patch in a minute. It is completely different as it rather
corrects the cause of the problem: unaligned 32bit reads that step over the
boundary.
Thank you very much for taking the trouble of testing, it is essental. I tried
to reproduce it here, but the application that I found that uses this function
failed to show the screen corruption that you saw. It also does not show the
crashes that you see.
Rein.

This is a windows game but the patch he is referrin to is a dos patch. I would
definately try the dos emulator for running the patch, and see if that works.
IIRC, no no-cd patching programs that open up a command prompt in windows work
under wine, although the ones that have an actual dialog box that you click a
patch button work fine. In this case, though, I think it should be a wontfix,
since there are many other much better dos "compatibility layers" out there.

Hi, please set the bug status to resolved - we got the following success
